2009
InLand Design was founded by
Chuck Dobson and Todd Harmon and Roman Dychdala with the goal of providing more efficient, personal and innovative engineering for builders, developers and homeowners.

In a time when land development regulations have become more stringent and complicated, you can count on the staff of Engineers, Land Surveyors and Land Development Consultants at InLand Design to overcome challenging obstacles and obtain quick approvals for your construction projects!
2012
As InLand Design grows and moves into office space in Exton, PA.
​InLand Design found itself growing and in need of a space of its own to house its new survey department, equipment and began looking for an additional project manager.
The former bank location on Lincoln highway served as home for InLand Design for three years ...

2015
InLand Design hires Project Manager, Surveyor / Technician and moves location.
​
2015 brought exciting events to InLand Design! We hired Joel Comanda, P.E. and Jason Harmon, P.L.S. and added them to our staff, AND we relocated to 16 Hagerty Blvd., in West Chester, Pennsylvania.
As of January 2025, we remain at 16 Hagerty Blvd. Joel continues to excel as a project manager, and Jason has advanced to become our Director of Survey.
2016
InLand Design continues to grow​

By 2016, InLand was expanding its team, welcoming Scott Zwizanski, P.E. a highly skilled professional engineer and project manager. Scott joined us a bit later in his career, having pursued his dream of becoming a successful professional bike racer before coming on board with us at InLand. By the end of 2016, Troy Harmon joined InLand as a surveyor. Since then, he has evolved into a highly capable Crew Chief.
2018
Sad news in April of 2018 ...
​
Our partner and friend Roman W. Dychdala, P.E., P.L.S., passed away at age 54 on April 25, 2018. He was a distinguished engineer and surveyor with nearly 30 years of design and review experience. Roman earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and held professional engineering licenses in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Delaware. His expertise in land development and his practical, no-nonsense approach made him one of the most skilled engineers in the field. He was also known for his in-depth knowledge of Pennsylvania Zoning and Subdivision practices, serving as an expert witness in various cases.
Roman is survived by his wife Kelly, their three children, his mother Lydia, and his siblings. He is dearly missed in the day-to-day operations of InLand Design.

2019
The team is falling into place beautifully!​
By 2019, InLand was on the lookout for new talent. In October, we welcomed Lori Rook to take charge as our company "mom" and administrative assistant. If you're familiar with InLand, you've definitely met Lori!

In May 2019, we were fortunate to discover a true gem in Linda Layer, P.E. who joined our team as our Director of Engineering (Highlighted on the left)​​​
2021
InLand offers new services!

In September 2021, InLand was in need of a full-time Landscape Architect/Project Manager. Fortunately, Meghan E.A. Shomper, RLA, Certified Arborist, stepped in and brought her expertise to our team.
​
As we grew busier, we realized we needed more hands on deck. Fortunately for InLand Design, Shaun Flite, E.I.T. was available and joined us in November 2021, bringing his design and Civil 3D expertise with him.

2022 & 2024
Your only as good as your people!

In 2022, InLand sought another CAD designer and welcomed David Nester, a seasoned veteran with several years of CAD experience and expertise in civil engineering and surveying.
And in 2024 Our survey crew also expanded with the addition of Nick Lehman, who brings a steady and reliable temperament to the team.
Today
As InLand Design has continued to grow and now occupies 3,500 s.f. of space at the 16 Hagerty Blvd. Location, continuing to service our clients with the utmost care to a personal touch in this sometimes-confusing and complicated Land Development world.
I have been using Inland Design for several years now on many different complicated Land development projects. The team, headed by Chuck, is fantastic and very hard working. They are extremely responsive to questions and feedback. The development climate grows increasingly difficult with constant new laws and ordinances. The engineers at Inland design are knowledgeable of these changes and do really well thought out civil designs. I recommend them to anyone looking for a smooth project! - Matt L.
